旅行でくたびれたシャツをクリーニングするのに
ボタンを外し、客の好みの柔軟さに整えた上で

元々紛失していたボタンを付け直す為に

素材にこだわるばかりに納期も予算も大幅に

耐えぬいたホテル。
日本でフランクロイドライトといえば
帝国ホテルである。

残念ながら近代建築の三大巨匠では
フランクロイドライトだけが残った。
しかし派手な世界の記録よりも
日本人にも通ずる血の通った彼の仕事は
我々の記憶に残っている。

My Freedamn 3 《ファッション アディクト》
古き良きアメリカの洋服を見たければ
日本の高円寺に行くのが一番。
たしか有名なアメリカのディーラーの言葉。
ハワイで出会った世界で2番目を自負する
アロハシャツのディーラーも
アメリカ人のコレクターが高円寺に
買い付けに行くと言っていた。
近所に住んでいるので確かにそう思う。
しかしこのビンテージ写真集を見ていると
似合うのはやはりアメリカ人だなぁと実感。
体型が似合うのはもちろんそうなのだが
空気感が日本のそれとは大きく違うからだと
私は考察する。
つまり見ている空の色が違うのだと。
日本人がどれだけ頑張ったって
日本で作ってたらどうしても
日本の香りがしてしまう。
鈴木大器氏は何故ニューヨークに渡ったのか。
無駄だとわかりつつ
あの空を追いかけてまた高円寺に向かう。
ちなみにアロハシャツのディーラーは
同郷の中学の大先輩。
世界は広いのか狭いのか。

こちらも昔額装の仕事をしていたという
老紳士から譲っていただいた雑誌である。
ずっと探していた世界初のメンズ専門誌
エスクァイアUSA版の1938年創刊号
オリジナル。
本物を見るのも初めてだった。
だが雑誌としてはなかなかの値だったので
悩んでいると
隣にいたお客の紳士が
それは買っておいた方がよい。
全ページ資料価値があると
アドバイスをくれた。
聞けばバブル期だとそれは10万円で取り引き
されていたとか。
すると額装屋の主人が世界一高い雑誌
は何か聞いてきた。
もちろんわからない。
するとプレイボーイのUSA版の創刊号
だと教えてくれた。
マリリンモンローが表紙で
100万の値がつくとか。
ということでまんまとお買い上げ。
しばらくして神保町のファッション系
で有名な古本屋で
創刊号はないか聞いてみたが
あるはずないとの返答。
やはり先輩方のいう事は聞いておいた方がよい。

An answer that there is not it or heard the first issue in a few minutes in the secondhand bookstore which is famous for fashion system of Jimbocho, but there cannot be it. After all you should hear what seniors say.

地球儀の年代を判別するのって知ってますか？
そう国の名前なんです。
例えばロシアがソビエトだったとか
朝鮮半島が別れてるか？とか。
なんだかビンテージの洋服のディテールのよう
こちらは50年代の地球儀。
当時は宇宙に人類は行った事がないので
海は黒く見えると思っていたらしい。
結果インテリアには最高の配色になりました。
正しい事が美しい事とは限らない。
